Five for Friday – Recalibrate!
Ahhhh, January…so many possibilities, plans, and dreams ahead! I love a good clean slate, and January is the perfect clean slate to our year. Today’s Five for Friday is here to get you off to a good start to 2022.
1. Vision boards
I’m such a visual person, and one thing I’m doing with my daughter at the moment is we are creating vision boards together. We have typically done the classic magazine cut outs style of board, but we’re checking out some new designs this year.
Vision boards can help keep your goals in front of you; motivating and inspiring you all year long.
Here are some style you might want to try in order to achieve those goals you are setting for this year:
- Cut out magazine pictures (a jogger, drums, travel, etc) to create your personalized board
- Online version
- Sketch book
- Cork board
- Framed
2. The Rocketbook
I’m old school when it comes to taking notes and I prefer a good notebook and pen in meetings and planning my day. However, my ability to retrieve those notes with several notebooks about is a little less certain. 🙂
I’ve recently been introduced the Rocketbook and I’m excited at all the benefits it provides. There are several different style notebook and planners to choose from, as well as colors, and the neat thing is, you write, scan, organize, and reuse. You’re saving trees, getting organized, and keeping that traditional handwriting experience.
3. Unhindered
As we prepare ourselves with new organizers, new Bible reading plans, exercise programs, decluttering and more, we also want to remember our hearts. Our good friends, Dr. John Walker and Dr. Charity Byers, have written an incredible book called ‘Unhindered’. It’s an opportunity to to allow God to realign our hearts; throwing off the negative influences of pain, fear, doubt, bitterness, and resentment and embracing a life unhindered, as God desires.
You can also grab the 30-day reader!
4. Prayer journal template
One of the incredible things about a prayer journal is that you can not only concentrate on those you have committed to pray for, those situations you are asking God’s direction in, but also, it’s a great way to look back and celebrate all that He has done. We’ve got a prayer journal template to get you started and whether you keep it on your device and take notes or create your own journal, we hope this helps you watch God’s hand in your life and the lives of others.
5. Clean your desk day – January 11th
Mark Twain summed me up when he said, “A clean desk is a sign of a cluttered desk drawer.” 🙂 This month, I’m tackling my office and reorganizing things to help create the most efficient work environment I can. If you’re in the same boat with me and ready to fresh sweep in your work station, we’ve got some tips from the pros!
* Put all papers into their designated folders.
* Scan, shred, and recycle paper you don’t need to keep.
* Keep it relevant – clear off anything that you are not working on currently.
* Vertical file stands or mesh baskets…whatever your style, try and corral projects together.
* Limit office supplies – only keep out the supplies you use daily on your desk, and put the rest away in a drawer or cabinet.
* Take it easy on the personal knick-knacks – be mindful not to let your personal decorations overtake your work space and crowd you out.
* Easy on the sticky notes – too many sticky notes can create more distraction then actual benefit, so limit sticky notes for short-term reminders.
* Jump into that routine – once you’ve done that sweep of your cubicle or work space, be sure to maintain it by going through it at the end of each day, a Friday afternoon, or Monday morning to be sure and keep it functional.
If you’ve got some great ways to begin the year, we’d love to hear them! We are grateful for you and as we send this out, we are praying a blessed weekend for you all!
Many thanks,
Rachel
