Five for Friday – Step into Christmas
It’s that time of year! Time we start planning and preparing for Christmas gifts, celebrations, school plays, and travel. Hopefully this Five for Friday will give you some helpful tools to organize the season with as well as some encouragement and challenges along the way.
1. Budget app
It’s so easy to get excited about the giving season or celebrating those we love, right into a significantly lighter bank account if we’re not careful. One great app to help you stay on track and budget your seasonal spending (great for the rest of the year as well) is EveryDollar.
2. Tap into the senses
Our noses are incredible. One simple smell can unlock forgotten memories, calm us, and get us in the “mood” for whatever season is upon us. We’ve got two great DIY recipes to help make your house smell delicious!
3. Gift apps
Whether you’ve got kids, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, or coworkers, here are some fun apps to help you keep wish lists, stores, and purchases organized all in one convenient spot.
4. New christmas tradition
This is a neat tradition that I began a couple years ago with my kids, Izabella and Izaiah, and we loved reading each day together, and allowing the true meaning of Christmas to unfold slowly throughout the whole month. It’s a great way to get yourself or your family truly ready to celebrate the birth of Christ.
5. A Christmas read to bless and de-stress
A book that I am reading at the moment to prepare for the Christmas season is ‘12 Ways of Christmas: Cultivate a Restful (Not Stressful) Season’ by my sweet friend, Cassia Elder. I know I often can envision a Hallmark Christmas that I try to create for myself and my kiddos and I can feel extra stress during the month if I’m not careful, usually just created by myself. I am really enjoying the thoughts, the challenges, the prompts and the heart, and I think you will too. You can get your copy here!
Hope you enjoy a beautiful fall weekend! We’re thankful for you!
Many blessings,
Rachel
