Five for Friday – A Valentine for All!

Ahhh, Valentine’s Day…I’m sure the pink and red explosion down every aisle and outside every store at the moment evokes all kinds of feelings. Excitement, dread, hurt, sweet memories, nervousness, and more. Today, we’re going to share some fun ways to celebrate no matter what season you’re in or where you are at in life…whether you are dating, married, single…you can celebrate love in your life this Valentine’s, and more importantly, you can celebrate God’s love. How beautiful that His love engulfs anyone in any season at any age, through anytime of life. Let it wash over you this Monday!

Where my single ladies at?

Girl, I got you! We can absolutely enjoy this day to the fullest, but we might have to throw on some different glasses to see it. Valentine’s Day can absolutely feel like the loneliest day ever if you are not in a relationship, but I want to remind us of some truths we can hold onto and some ideas that will hopefully make your Valentine’s bright and meaningful.

Let’s start off with remembering our identity…it is in Christ that we are made complete (Colossians 2:10)…no one can fill that longing except Him. So, on V-day, make sure He is your first love…you can walk boldly and with God-fidence, because He has made you, He cherishes you, He sees you, and He’s got you!

This is not a time to passively wait on a man for God to bring…this is an active season that has an incredible amount of purpose and chances to grow. We don’t want to miss a moment. We want to use every moment of every season for him.

So, this Valentine’s, let’s try:

Focus on how incredibly loved you are by your King (do you forget that as often as I do?) and praising him in this season as He prepares you for the next.

Love on those He has placed in your life. How can you express your love for family, friends, co-workers, and all of those in your life who need to feel the love of Christ.

Use this time to write a letter to that future hubby and pray over him.

I love this quote from Lisa Bevere, “It is not possible for Him to fail you. Men love, but God is love.” Let this encourage you today, beauty!

Table for two

Though I’m not married, I still thought it is important to encourage the couples who are celebrating this Valentine’s.

I’m sure you’ve got the flowers and chocolates covered, but one thing that can create a special moment for your Valentine’s is praying over each other and allowing His love to bind together, realign, renew, and strengthen your commitment to one another and to Christ.

Kid Zone

Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to teach your children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews how important it is to share the love of Christ with others all around them.

One fun treat you can make with the kiddos is Love Bug Oreo Cookies, and they tend to be a big hit. Help your little love bugs make these yummy cookies to hand out to neighbors, youth groups, or anywhere they are involved.

We’ve included a little card to go with the ‘Love Bugs’ as your kids hand them out.

Fun for All

Whether you’re celebrating as a couple, family-style, Galentine’s, or low-key, here are some fun activities to make your Valentine’s Day a memorable one:

Youtube Karaoke party – Through the magic of Youtube, you’ve got every song you could possibly want at your fingertips. Pick your favorites and get to singing. Up the fun factor by awarding cheesy prizes like “Best Air Guitar Solo” or “Loudest Singer”.

Themed Dinner & Movie Night – Take the usual dinner and movie night up a notch by having a theme. Serve Greek food while watching My Big Fat Greek Wedding, whip up some yummy pasta while watching Luca.

Fondue for Two (or more) – Kids and adults alike enjoy finger food. Make either a cheese or chocolate fondue (or both) and let the creativity run wild.

Cupcake decorating – Have a heart explosion of decorations and candies to decorate a batch of cupcakes.

Love Bomb

Choose your victim (or victims) and carefully plan your scene of attack. 🙂

We’ve got little love bombs ready for you to print and write what you love about that special person and surprise them on Valentine’s with some sweet messages to encourage and uplift.

Cover your kid’s bedroom door with these love bombs, a family member’s bathroom mirror, car, or any other fun location you can think of that might catch them off guard.

However you celebrate Valentine’s Day this Monday, we pray that you know the love of Christ in a real, tangible, overwhelmingly beautiful way. May you never doubt His perfect love for you no matter where you’ve been, what you’ve done, or where you are at, and may you trust Him completely with what’s to come. You are so loved, friend!

We’re grateful for you! Happy Valentine’s Day!

Lots of love,

Rachel
