Five for Friday – Memorial Day

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, here are your ‘Five for Friday’ for quick thoughts, ideas, and tips to help make your Memorial Day special!

A moment of remembrance:
In 2000, Congress created the National Moment as a way to honor our troops. At 3 p.m. on Memorial Day, every American is asked to pause for just one minute to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many to provide freedom for all. This can be a neat moment to create awareness with your children or grandchildren, honoring those that have served and praying over those who are currently serving and their families.

Send a tweet:
One neat way you can thank the troops is simply by sending a tweet! Tweets using the #wearegrateful hashtag are screened and printed onto postcards and distributed to troops worldwide.

Easy grilling:
A mess free and easy way to grill up this weekend for your Memorial Day barbecue is by throwing it all in foil! Add a variety of veggies, potatoes, Worcestershire sauce (or any you like) and your burger or tofu all together in foil. You can grill up a portion for all at your get together with virtually no clean up. Here’s a quick recipe!

Don’t forget dessert:
Whether you are headed to a cookout, hosting one, or spending a quiet Memorial Day weekend at home, here’s a quick and easy, yet patriotic dessert that is sure to be a yummy fav!

Quench your thirst:
Sip back on this kid-friendly patriotic punch this weekend for a bit of fun! Throw in an edible Twizzlers Twist straw and the kids/grandkids are sure to love it! Click here for the recipe!

Memorial Day quote (bonus):
“Remembering is an act of thanksgiving, this turn of the heart over time’s shoulder to see all the long way His arms have carried.” -Ann Voskamp

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend, however you celebrate. From all of us at Forget Me Not Ministries, we want to take a moment to say “THANK YOU” to all who have served and protected…we are grateful for your sacrifice!

Have a blessed Memorial Day weekend!

Rachel
