Five for Friday – Today I learned…

I love discovering new things all the time and probably suffer from a serious case of FOMO (fear of missing out), ha!

That being said, if you’re like me, here are some sites I’ve recently learned of that aren’t necessarily known by all. Hidden gems.

1. Free Rice

Sometimes I just like to turn off a bit and do some trivia games to relax. I’ve recently found this site and app called Free Rice’ which sends the cash equivalent of 10 grains of rice to the World Food Programme for each correct answer, who then use it to save and change lives. The rice adds up quick!

2. Super Cook

Have you ever had those evenings, like I have, where you get to supper time, haven’t been to the grocery store and haven’t got a plan? Super Cook is a great site and app that allows you to pop in what produce and ingredients you have in your pantry and then it will pull up lots of recipes to choose from according to what you have at home.

3. City Walks

Does your heart long to travel like mine? I’ve got dreams to go to Scotland, Ireland, Greece, and all kinds of places one day…but until then, I can click on City Walks put it on in the background while I work and change my scenery a bit. What city will you take a walk through this weekend? You can even schedule group walks!

4. Dimensions

My mom laughs at me all the time, because I am awful with measurements and ordering anything online. I’ve been known to measure furniture with an envelope and I still (after 18 years haven’t caught on to the metric system)! I always guesstimate how big I think it is and usually always order the complete wrong size. This website not only has tons of practical dimensions and visuals, but it’s really fun to look and learn things with your kids as well. Izaiah and I are currently looking at all of the dinosaurs and how tall they were in relation to people. Really fun stuff (and helpful too).

5. Radio Garden & Radiooooo

We really can discover so many cultures, food, and music at the touch of our fingertips in today’s world. Two fun music sites are Radiooooo and Radio Garden. Radiooooo is a musical time machine and allows you to hear music from all different eras. Radio Garden is so fun, as you can click on a place, anywhere on the globe and be able to listen to a radio station there. I find it’s fun when I’m feeling sentimental and missing places I used to live or when I just want to explore and check out different music.

Bonus:

  • b-ok.cc – This is a great resource to find TONS of ebooks (in fact, the world’s largest ebook library)! Enjoy!
  • solarsystemscope.com – Solar System Scope is a model of Solar System, Night Sky, and Outer Space in real time, with accurate positions of objects and lots of interesting facts. Pretty cool!
  • slickdeals.net – I’m a sucker for a good deal! You can grab deals, discounts, promo codes, and coupons here!

Have a BLESSED weekend! We are so thankful for you!

Thank you,

Rachel
